Toronto Dumpling + Sake Fest Tomorrow

Can you ever have too many dumplings? No, of course you can’t. Thankfully, Dumpling + Sake Fest touches down tomorrow to slake our collective hunger for these puffy pods of deliciousness. The Dumpling + Sake Fest will take place at Propeller Coffee (50 Wade Ave.) on Thursday April 9th and will be featuring culinary inspired dumplings from 9 chefs competing for the Golden Chopsticks.

Tickets are $55, including all 9 dumplings plus 4 sake tastings and 1 ballot for top dumpling. Proceeds will go to The Stop, Community Food Centre.

Participating chefs/establishments include:

Michael Pataran, L’Eat Catering – ‘Oyaki’ soba momijioroshi octopus dumpling with uni butter, toasted sesame, ‘Menchi katsu’ fried beef and pork cutlet dumpling with fresh santa lucia goat milk ricotta, house ground panko and tonkatsu tare scallion and candied ‘banshee’ amish bacon

Jesse Grasso, The Black Hoof – ‘Blood Gyoza with country ham and XO’ spicy apple mustard

Noah Goldberg, Peter Pan Bistro – ‘Pork & Beans’ Dumpling

Kazuhiro Kawamoto, Kingyo Izakaya – ‘Chicken Wing Gyoza’ stuffed with pork and chives, crispy chicken skin

Bashir Munye, My Little Dumplings

Jay Scaife, Cafe Bar Pasta – ‘Potato & Foie Gas Pierogi’ with house cured lamb belly and smoked creme fraiche

Andres Marquez, Fonda Lola

Jessica Lagman, Hooked Catering – ‘Langonesa Roastes Brussels Sprout Dumpling’ ‘Deep Fried Spicy Coconut Shrimp Dumpling’ with sautéed leeks ‘Coffee Spiced Beef and Pork Dumpling’ spiced with Propeller Coffee

Garab Lama, Tibet Kitchen – ‘Chicken & Beef Tibetan Momo’s’, tomato & chili dipping sauce.
