Oct 3, 2016 This week is Google's week with a little Oculus Rift thrown in for kicks. Let's start with Palmer Luckey's developer conference. Nevertheless, the three-day San Jose event should provide us with a shipping date for the long-awaited Touch controllers, just ahead of the PlayStation VR's October 13th sale date. But let's not kid ourselves, this week is all about Google. Google's event kicks off on Tuesday in San Francisco. Rumors suggest a slew of new hardware including 5-inch Pixel and 5.5-inch Pixel XL phones built by HTC; pricing and availability of the Echo-like Google Home voice assistant; a new Chromecast Ultra USB stick with support for 4K resolutions and HDR; and a multi-point router variation of OnHub meant to compete with modern home Wi-Fi solutions like Eero. We should also be hearing more about Google's Daydream VR platform set to launch any day now. More importantly would be the long rumored formalization of "Andromeda," the code name for a Chrome OS and Android mashup targeting laptops and tablets. Of course anything could happen so be sure to tune into our coverage at 1pm ET tomorrow, October 4th. You'll want to read Dan Seifert's event preview before then. But all this and more is still to come. First let's get caught up on the weekend that was.
