Sept 12, 2016 We've got another big Apple week this week starting with the release of both iOS 10 and watchOS 3 on Tuesday, September 13th. In our iOS preview back in July, we said that the new more powerful notifications, widgets, and raise-to-wake feature will "change how you use your iPhone," while making you "love your lock screen." Apple's watchOS update should be just as lovable by making the first generation Apple Watch feel like a brand new device thanks to some major UI and performance tweaks. Both OS updates should be available to download on or about 1pm ET if Apple follows its usual release schedule. Unfortunately, macOS Sierra won't be available this week — it's coming a week later on Tuesday the 20th. Apple's iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, and the Series 2 Watch go on sale Friday the 16th. That means we should see the first official reviews sometime this week if tradition holds. Can Apple's much ballyhooed new iPhone cameras edge out the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge to reclaim the top spot? Do AirPods (which don't go on sale until late October) sound and fit any better than the in-the-box Lightning EarPods, and is Apple's enhanced form of Bluetooth really worth $159? And does the new Series 2 Watch coupled with GPS deliver an acceptable level of wrist-worn performance vs. battery life? We'll soon find out. Just don't expect any first weekend sales announcement come Monday — Apple's not doing those anymore; tacit admission that peak iPhone has come and gone. TIFF, the Toronto International Film Festival, also continues to roll this week. If Sundance is too art-housie for you then TIFF is the place to catch all the best studio films gearing up for award's season. It's already responsible for screening J.A. Bayona's A Monster Calls, Jeff Nichols' Loving, Antoine Fuqua's The Magnificent Seven, and Oliver Stone's Snowden, with plenty more to come including Denis Villeneuve's Arrival. Don't worry if it's too much to track because we'll round up all our faves by the end of the week. But this is just a taste of what's to come in a week that includes the Tokyo Game Show (check out IGN's preview). First, let's get caught up on the weekend that was.
