We launched Presence almost one year ago as the world's first venture capital fund dedicated to investing exclusively in VR and AR startups. Since then we have been one of the most active VR and AR investors in the world with over 20 early-stage investments in verticals ranging from 3D photogrammetry capture, to industrial assistance, to games and animation. Given our focus on this sector, our backgrounds, and our network we see the majority of the companies launching in this space and have developed a strong investment thesis based around backing world-class teams with bold ideas on how this technology will shape our world.
Paul, Phil, and I started Presence Capital because we believe that Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality are going to transform the way we view and interact with technology. We have all previously been active investors and entrepreneurs with investments and advisor positions in companies like Unity, Uber, Luxe, Sprig, and more.
In addition, Phil and I have previous operational experience in this space. Phil was the founder of VR at HTC and was one of the creators of the HTC Vive, currently the most advanced VR system available. I have a background in 3D graphics and worked on the Unreal Engine, the world's leading 3D graphics engine and one of the core technologies used in VR today. Our operational experience enables us to comprehensively diligence the technology and team of a startup and where they will fit in the overall VR and AR landscape.
We have the unique background needed to deeply evaluate these companies combined with the network and deal flow to find and invest in great companies. We are investing in every deal we syndicate and we hope that you'll participate with us.
