My two dogs, Bennie and Junior, in many ways are the cornerstone of my sanity. When the world is a strange and unusual place there's no better tonic than the perpetual wagging and loving of coming home to my little boys squirming with delight.
These are the things that make life sweeter. Sunsets and days off, sale racks of designer shoes and handwritten notes…Sometimes they come individually and occasionally they combine in unexpected ways, like the unwavering love (and cuteness) of a loyal pooch and a rich, tiny cake – the cupcake; it's literally the PERFECT combo!
Few things work together better than loving pets and eating cupcakes, especially when you can do both at the SAME TIME! This is why, we're very excited that National Cupcake Day, a fundraiser for SPCAs and Humane Societies across Canada happening on Monday February 29th, 2016.
It's a wonderful way to contribute to the welfare of animals and a great excuse for a baking party if you feel like getting in on the action with a group of friends. Keep it simple or go the extra mile by making dog or cat themed cupcakes – totally up to you!
To start, choose your local participating SPCA or Humane Society. Then, all you gotta do is bake thecupcakes and raise some cash money through pals, family or anyone else who'd like to help! A delicious treat made tastier by the knowledge that your effort ensures animals in need are not left to suffer without help. The funds raised are then donated to your chosen charity which is actually the sweetest part.
Wait, there's more! Participants who sign up early and raise $50 online before January 30th will be entered into a draw to WIN a KitchenAid Stand Mixer!
