It took having a baby to appreciate how incredibly challenging it is to advance one's career while balancing motherhood. Here's the truth: without proper childcare in place, a mother can't work on her professional life; it is nearly impossible to juggle both.
Ladies Learning Code, a not-for-profit organization with the mission to be the leading resource for women and youth to become passionate builders – not just consumers – of technology, has always been a company that we admire and applaud, and now they've taken accessibility to a whole new level.
Partnering with Kids & Company, Ladies Learning Code will be starting a pilot program this January that will offer free childcare services to anyone registered for one of their weekday workshops in Toronto. "We believe that computer programming and other technical skills are tools of empowerment, but technology changes so quickly. It's really important to us that our programs are accessible for women — especially those who might have been out of the workforce for months or years caring for their families — to have the opportunity to learn new skills and feel confident with technology." Amen.
Kids & Company is Canada's leading corporate childcare provider dedicated to providing corporate employees with reliable, flexible and quality childcare solutions to suit the needs of each individual child, parent and employer, creating a healthy work-life balance.
Upcoming courses include HTML & CSS for Beginners (learn to build your own website), Data Insights with Python for Beginners (an intro to basic programming), Photo Editing for Beginners: An Introduction to PixIr, WordPress for Beginners, and more.
Interested in attending a workshop with free childcare?
Register for one of the upcoming weekday workshops here. Learners can drop off and pick up their child(ren) at a nearby Kids & Company location (specific location subject to availability) on the day of the workshop for free! More details available on workshop registration pages or by contacting us at info@ladieslearningcode.com.
Let's hope more organizations follow in their footsteps.
